Bill's Notes: So I get this call one night from a friend... "You gotta come down and hear 'The Brawny Motherfolkers'". Knowing the friend, I knew it would be good. The MF's, fronted by Annie Enneking, were immensely entertaining. I booked Annie for a Songwriters in the Round show and subsequently she appeared on the album. But, jamming with her that night was nineteen-year-old Becky Farmer on violin. I was really impressed with her improvisational skills, something that you don't see that often in younger, classically trained violinists. She complimented Annie's dark subject matter and tone in ways that really touched me. I asked her as she walked past if she would be interested in trying out some studio work for my project. She was nervous, but came through beautifully. The arrangements that you hear on the album are all improvisations of hers. Only on "Through Her Window" did I even give her a hint of what I was looking for. She instinctively picked up the spirit of the songs. When she finished the solo on "That's When I'll Whisper", I asked her to try a complimentary part. She played along with her first recording and nailed it on the first take. Each time I hear those violins come in, I get a chill. A good one.
